SRI MURUDESHWARA TEMPLE,
DHANUGALA, GONIKOPPAL VIA, VIRAJPET TALUK, S.COORG, KARNATAKA – 571213. |
Location: INDIA-KARNATAKA-COORG [KODAGU]-VIRAJPET-GONIKOPPAL - Between Balele and Gonikoppal road. From Gonikoppal it’s around 12 kms. After the village Bemmathi, the next stop is the temple. Private and government buses are available to go there on every one hour.
History: As per my knowledge, this is an old temple might have been built several years back. It had history more than 100 years. Chola’s or historical people have planned to build the temple. For the same, they brought some huge cuts of rocks and placed around the temple. Those rocks were having more than ten tons of weight. It could not be transferred by people. They people might have used elephants to bring there. Ultimately, they not build the temple. The rocks left aside. Instead of building tmple, they built a small hut for the Eshwara Linga. Later on in 1800 onwards people built mud wall and teak and other wood roof, covered with paddy leaf. A little while shortly, it converted into Mangalore tiled building. There is a huge, big, large Giant Banyan Tree [Dodda Alada Mara] and a mango tree.
My grandfather Thadi Basappa was the priest to the temple in the year 1985 back. He used to say he was worshiping god since long back. After 1985 due to his age, my father was continued to worship the god. In the year 1990 people of Dhanugala village have decided to create a Trust regarding this temple. In the same year some people of our village have been created a Trust.
Modern years: After 1990, the Trust people decided to construct the new temple. The construction work was started by collecting some money around the people of the village. The new temple was built and a grand Pooja was held. Even me also used to worship him. I love him and I believe him a lot. My grandpa was once said ‘‘if we call his name from home, he responds ‘I am here’”. That much of powerful he is. He has given me a great life. What ever happened in my life, all are gone well because he blessed me in all the way I gone.
Sri Basaveshwara temple is located 1.5 kms apart from this temple. Both have facing each other even in long distance.
Please visit once to this temple and submit your prayer to Sri Murudeshwara. He will be sure with you. Everyday worship is available. Visit once and find the peace in your mind. You will be sure enlightened.
